Now more than ever, people are investing into their physical and mental health by incorporating wellness into their travel.

Its big business too. The Global Wellness Institute says the wellness tourism industry will hit $1.3 trillion by 2025.

Those wanting to connect with nature amid fresh mountain air should head for the towns of Aspen and Snowmass Village during the summer months.

From mountain top yoga to new state-of-the-art spa facilities, there are endless ways for travelers to reenergize mind and body.

For the mind

Mountain top yoga on Aspen Mountain

Take a scenic ride on the Silver Queen Gondola to the summit of Aspen Mountain and take part in a yoga experience like no other. Every summer from June to September, the Aspen Shakti team runs an hour open-air Hatha yoga session on a stunning deck overlooking the Rocky Mountains. Those wanting a challenge can take the 1.5 hour hike to the top of Aspen Mountain. Sessions run from Monday to Friday at 10:30am with a portion of all profits going towards supporting the Caring for Community Fund mental health program.

Classical music amongst the aspen trees

Celebrating 75 years in 2024, the Aspen Music Festival and School is viewed as one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in North America. During the summer, hundreds of events are scheduled over eight-weeks, including orchestra concerts, chamber music, opera performances and classes, with the 75th year set to feature celebrations on all 53 nights of the season. Take an evening stroll to the Michael Klein Music Tent where you can sit amongst the aspen trees whilst listening to relaxing orchestral melodies.

Meditation in the John Denver Sanctuary

Situated next to Rio Grande Park in the heart of Aspen, the John Denver Sanctuary is a peaceful oasis where you can connect with both nature and music. The Song Garden features a series of native river boulders placed in a perfect circle, all with lyrics etched into the stone to reflect the circle of life. The sanctuary is also home to a large perennial flower garden as well as man-made wetlands and winding streams.

For the body

Hiking in Snowmass Village

With endless miles of hiking trails to explore, Aspen and Snowmass Village offer everything from short, relaxing strolls to epic multi-day adventures. Over 90 miles of trails can be accessed from Snowmass Village alone, with the Rim Trail South a popular hike amongst locals, offering incredible 360-views of Snowmass Village and the surrounding area. Embrace the fresh mountain air and quiet trails bursting with wildlife as you make your way to the lookout at Spiral Point for valley views of the reservoir and towering peaks.

Horseback riding to the Maroon Bells Wilderness

Embark on a guided horseback journey with Blazing Adventures through Snowmass with its expansive aspen forests and fields of wildflowers. Follow winding creeks into the rugged wilderness of the Rocky Mountains for breathtaking views of alpine lakes and the iconic Maroon Bells. Choose from half-day, full-day or overnight rides each offering gourmet meals with the chance to fish in the creeks.

Full body relaxation at The Spa at Viceroy Snowmass
