Accovia expands TAP to XML
Accovia has launched an XML-based version of its technology to allow travel suppliers and distributors to connect and transact with each other.
The XML-based Travel Application Protocol (TAP) will connect the systems of airlines, GDSs, online agents, operators, resorts and hotels for the purposes of procurement, selling and distribution. It allows sellers to research and book multi-component travel itineraries from a number of sources.
Accovia chief executive, Claude Guay (left) told TravelMole: “In the past with multiple connections you may be looking at £200,000 and three to six months per system you want to connect to. With this new XML version you are looking at a matter of weeks”.
Accovia takes a fee per transaction made on TAP, which varies according to the agreement made with the travel distributor.
Guay said: “In the current economic environment, travel providers, tour operators and travel agencies need the ability to access multiple distribution networks to effectively distribute and sell packaged travel offerings”.
The technology avoids the need for propriety technology or the need to transfer package inventory and control to a third party.
TAP is now available as part of Accovia’s Travel Automation and Management Suite, a distribution management system that works through GDSs, call centres or via the internet.
