Active Hotels leads on-line reservation market with record results
Cambridge, UK – Active Hotels, the leading provider of online reservations to the European hotel industry, is now processing €25,000,000 of reservations per quarter, a best for the industry. The company generated an average of 360% more bookings for its hotels between February 2002 and February 2003.
Independent research predicts that over 13% of all revenues in hospitality will be generated by the Internet in 2003 and that three years from now the Internet will contribute over 20% of all hotel bookings*. Active Hotels’ own research backs this with its partner hotel groups seeing a 50% rise in Internet bookings in 2002 to approximately 12% of their bookings.
Andy Phillipps, CEO, Active Hotels, comments, “The industry as a whole is growing exponentially. Our hotels have seen both significant growth and increased room rates over the Internet, which is fast becoming the most profitable source of reservations for many hotels. Through our partner websites we have over one million users looking for a room each month and our conversion rates – turning lookers into bookers – are improving by 50% year on year. We’re predicting that hotels working with us will see their bookings more than double during 2003.
“Our aim is to become the leading Internet hotel reservations company in Europe while maintaining our position as the lowest cost provider to hotels, and the best added value partner for distributors. Key to this is ensuring we provide excellent service to both partners and hotels. It’s for this reason we have just increased our processing capacity ten-fold so we are able to handle a greater volume of reservation transactions,” comments Phillipps.
David Curtis-Brignell, Director of Leisure, Millennium & Copthorne says, “Active Hotels delivers consistently high booking volumes, providing Millennium Copthorne with a steady revenue stream we can rely on. Even in traditionally quiet times of the year, Active Hotels continues to exceed our expectations. We have achieved excellent conversion rates to date and we hope to build on our success to achieve even greater results in 2003.”
