‘Strictly’ dancers swap ships

Strictly Come Dancing stars Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova are moving their cruise ship-based dance competition.
The duo will be switching after two years from Thomson Cruises to sister brand Island Cruises.
Darren & Lilia’s Get Up and Dance competition will run on the Island Escape on fly-cruises from Tenerife.
The dance ‘heats’ will take place during sailings in January and February 2010 following the same format as previous years.
The winners of each weekly heat will be invited back for a free grand final cruise in April, where they will dance for celebrity judges Darren & Lilia.
The dance itinerary visits Las Palmas, Gran Canaria; Santa Cruz de la Palma, La Palma; Funchal, Madeira; Agadir, Morocco and Arrecife, Lanzarote.
TUI cruise director David Selby said: “Last year’s competition was a roaring success, with entrants from all over the UK.
“We are hoping the change of ship will attract a whole new group of dancers.
“The Get Up and Dance competition allows us to continue with something we enjoy putting on and our customers seem to enjoy taking part in.”
