AFerry Godmother waves her wand
Ferry website AFerry has come up with a new character, AFerry Godmother, to help promote ferry travel during National Ferry Fortnight.
The annual event, running until March 19, is designed to encourage more people to travel by sea.
According to the latest figures, Britain’s top ferry operators carried more than 8.6 million cars during 2015, 1.3% up on 2014.
The AFerry Godmother character has been created to specifically help ferry first timers and has come up with a ‘ferrybible’ of tips and advice.
She is also promoting special offers from some of the key operators launched to coincide with the special fortnight.
Brittany Ferries, for example, is offering free child travel on its daytime UK-France routes to the end of May, excluding Portsmouth to Cherbourg.
Families will also get a free inside four-berth cabin and free bike carrier.
Meanwhile, Stena Line customers can take two friends or family members for free when they book a car and driver fare, valid for travel up to June 30 to Ireland or December 31 to Holland.
