Agents offered bonus commission from cruise line
Half the 2,500 agents who attended the launch of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway in Southampton last month will receive 4% bonus commission for a limited period, the company announced today.
As part of its Partners First Engage and Reward programme, agents were encouraged to attend various information points and presentations on the new ship throughout the day to earn up to 4% bonus commission for their agency.
Norwegian said around 75% achieved between 1% and 4% with 50% of those who attended reaching the maximum.
Director business development Nick Wilkinson said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the success of this innovative way to engage with our travel partners.
"The figures speak for themselves and the feedback received from our partners has been really positive. Not only did agents have an opportunity to experience our unique Freestyle Cruising product first hand but they now have the opportunity to sell Norwegian and earn a little extra at the same time."
The bonus commission will be valid for eligible travel partners on all new Norwegian Cruise Line bookings made up to June 14, 2013 for sailings departing up to December 31.
However, earlier this month Advantage agents were urged not to continue selling Norwegian cruises after it slashed its basic commission to 10% without warning (see earlier story here).
Advantage leisure director Julia Lo Bue-Said reminded agents attending the Advantage annual conference in Malaga that the consortium that Norwegian was no longer a preferred partner and suggested agents should switch-sell to other cruises.
