Agoda, Meituan ink strategic partnership for China outbound travel
Digital travel platform Agoda and Meituan have signed strategic partnership catering to the resurgent Chinese travel market.
This collaboration will see the companies share resources including hotel inventories and various hotel-related content.
This includes media, reviews, and facilities.
It will encompass supply chain management, product offerings, technology, data and more.
Agoda will leverage its overseas hotel supply network to launch more exclusive offers on Meituan.
This will give Chinese travellers a wider range of choices for their outbound trips.
In addition, Agoda and Meituan have jointly launched “Chinese Preferred” hotels in approximately 1,000 destinations worldwide.
These hotels have been handpicked for Chinese travellers based on criteria such as language needs and convenient payment options.
They will cooperate on outbound marketing initiatives during peak travel seasons, such as the summer holidays and National Day holidays.
During this year’s summer season Agoda and Meituan also collaborated on AI initiatives.
Meituan used Agoda’s content bank of hotel images, descriptions and customer reviews to create AI-generated videos for over 3,000 hotels.
Omri Morgenshtern, CEO of Agoda, said, “We look forward to a more in-depth partnership to provide Chinese customers with even better travel products and services.”
This year alone through August 2023, Meituan’s bookings for overseas accommodations surpassed the total for the entire year of 2019.
There has been strong booking activity in Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea.
