Air Algérie boosts its Asian and African network

Air Algérie is significantly expanding its long-haul network for the Northern Winter 2026/27 season, adding new routes to India and China while reinforcing its growing presence across Asia and Africa.

The Algerian flag carrier has filed preliminary schedules for new nonstop services from Algiers to Delhi and Shanghai Pudong, both set to launch in late October 2026. The routes will be operated three times weekly using the airline’s Airbus A330-900neo fleet, although reservations had not yet opened at the time of publication.

The planned Delhi service will give Air Algérie its first direct link to India on October 25. A day later, the airline intends to launch three-weekly flights to Shanghai, further strengthening air connectivity between Algeria and China.

The new routes are part of a broader strategy to position Algiers as a gateway between Africa, Europe and Asia. Over the past year, Air Algérie has accelerated long-haul expansion with a focus on emerging business and tourism markets.

The carrier also plans to retain services introduced during the Summer 2026 season. Flights from Algiers to Guangzhou and Kuala Lumpur are scheduled to continue throughout Winter 2026/27, each operating three times weekly with Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

Guangzhou remains an important destination for trade links between Algeria and southern China, while Kuala Lumpur provides access to one of Southeast Asia’s leading aviation hubs and growing tourism markets. Air Algérie also flies up to two times a week to Beijing.

Beyond Asia, Air Algérie is also extending its reach into sub-Saharan Africa. The airline recently filed schedules for a new Algiers–Luanda–Johannesburg service.

The route is due to start on July 3, 2026, initially operating once weekly. Tickets for Luanda are available for sale. The service will debut with an Airbus A330-200 before transitioning to the newer A330-900neo from July 17.

The latest additions underline Air Algérie’s ambition to transform Algiers into a stronger intercontinental hub, connecting North Africa with key destinations across Asia and southern Africa.
