Air Canada suffers data breach

Sunday, 21 Sep, 2023 0

Flag carrier Air Canada has been hit by a cyberattack.

Hackers managed to gain access to some of its internal systems, the airline said.

It claims it is a ‘limited’ data breach and restricted to ‘certain records’ of an unknown number of employees.

“We can confirm that our flight operations systems and customer-facing systems were not affected,” a spokesperson said.

“No customer information was accessed.”

“We can also confirm all our systems are fully operational.”

Au Canada says it has beefed up security measures and is working with law enforcement.

“An unauthorized group briefly obtained limited access to an internal Air Canada system.”

The airline is not disclosing what data was compromised or how many staff members were impacted in the cyberattack.

It has contacted some affected workers.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada is currently reviewing the preliminary breach report.
