Air China passengers injured after mid-flight engine fire
Nine passengers were injured following an emergency landing at Singapore Changi Airport.
An Air China plane’s engine caught fire, which sent smoke into the forward cargo hold and a cabin bathroom.
It landed safely at Changi and emergency slides were deployed.
The injuries were all minor and caused by both smoke inhalation and bumps exiting the emergency slide.
The Airbus A320 jet was carrying 146 passengers and nine crew.
“Air China and Changi Airport Group provided assistance to all passengers and crew,” officials said.
The emergency landing closed the runway for several hours but only one flight was diverted.
The Transport Safety Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident.
