Air India is set to order as many as 500 new aircraft.

Steven Udvar-Hazy, executive chairman of AirLease Corp revealed the airline’s plans.

“We have this 500-aircraft order coming out of India,” he told the Airline Economics conference.

“It is going to be about 400 narrow-bodies, probably Airbus and Boeing 737 Max.”

There will likely be another 100 wide-body aircraft including Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s.

“There is now more momentum for large orders from airlines,” Udvar-Hazy said.

Neither Air India nor the two plane makers have confirmed any orders yet.
