Air India fined for pilot duty violations
India’s aviation regulator has hit Air India with a fine of more than $95,000.
It adjudged the flag carrier breached pilot duty regulations.
The airline violated Flight Time Limitations rules.
The rules govern the allowable working hours for pilots and their minimum required rest periods between flights.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation found instances of exceeding duty periods, and also wrongly documented training records.
Air India also operated a few flights with both pilots aged above 60 years or above, which violates rules.
The regulator issued a show cause notice earlier this month and imposed the fine after an unsatisfactory response from the airline.
The DGCA recently raised the minimum weekly rest period for pilots in a measure to combat pilot fatigue.
