Air India introducing red-eye flights
Air India will begin late night red-eye flights for the first time on a few major routes starting next month.
The late night flights will be priced significantly lower than daytime peak departures, AI said and will include Delhi-Goa, Delhi-Coimbatore and Bangalore-Ahmedabad routes.
"These late night flights, will be offered at fares considerably lower than normal and help travellers beat peak hour city traffic as well as save on hotel charges," the airline said in a statement.
The red-eye flights will operate daily and begin on November 30.
Late night off-peak flights are a relatively new concept for India and could be the way forward to ease peak time congestion at the nation’s major air hubs.
Red-eye flights are popular on longer coast-to-coast routes in the US and internationally within Europe.
