Southwest announces first routes from Chicago O’Hare

Wednesday, 29 Oct, 2020 0

Southwest Airlines has announced its first flights out of Chicago O’Hare Airport.

Its first flight schedule from O’Hare will serve Baltimore, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix and Nashville.

Flights begin on Valentines’ Day next year.

It starts with a combined 20 daily nonstop flights to the five cities.

Although it is new to O’Hare, Southwest has been at Chicago Midway for decades and is the largest carrier there.

According to Southwest Vice President Andrew Watterson, the dual airport strategy will strengthen its position in Chicago.

In the coming months Southwest expects its Chicago Midway schedule to be back to about 200 departures a day.

On 11 March 2021, Southwest will launch its first flight from Colorado Springs.

It has announced routes to Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas Love Field and Chicago Midway.
