WOW launches four new US routes

Icelandic low-cost airline WOW air will launch new daily flights from Stansted to Reykjavik next April, which will connect to the carrier’s new services to Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit and St Louis.

Prices for the new flights to Reykjavik start at £29.99 one way, while fares on all four new transatlantic routes start at £129.99.
"It’s a big day for WOW air as we launch flights from Stansted, our second London airport, plus services to these four new US midwest destinations," said CEO and founder Skuli Mogensen.
"We are proud of our growth over the last two years and will continue to work tirelessly to provide the lowest fares possible to connect the UK to North America, helping to make international travel truly a possibility for everyone."
Stansted commercial director Martin Jones said: "We are delighted WOW air has chosen to come to London Stansted and become the latest airline to join our growing base of carriers operating from the airport.
"Reykjavik is a fantastic city and I’m sure it will prove to be a very popular destination in its own right but with the added benefit of opening up the airline’s extensive North American route network from its Icelandic hub, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Montreal, these new flights will also appeal to both business and leisure passengers from London and East of England as well those visiting the UK from the USA."
The news has also got the Great Lakes regions enthused as well. "We are excited to see new carriers such as Wow Air, Icelandair in 2017 and Norwegian in 2018 launching flights from the UK into the Great Lakes region. This helps to increase the variety of air travel on offer for the holiday maker, making the region more accessible and cost effective. We are delighted to see the commitment from these airlines for this amazing region" said Toby McCarrick Executive Director of the Great Lakes USA marketing consortia.
