AirAsia launches e-commerce platform
AirAsia has made its big move into e-commerce beyond ticket sales and ancillaries with the unveiling of OURSHOP.
The new shopping and services platform aims to expand AirAsia’s reach by connecting its 80 million annual fliers with a host of airport, high street and local specialist retailers.
It signed Plaza Bali Duty & Tax Free as the first official airport retailer partner.
"OURSHOP is a partner of the entire air travel ecosystem including airports, retailers, as well as the airlines and we look forward to building more relationships. What used to be a 20-minute shopping experience as travellers rush to their boarding gates is now 365 days of shopping indulgence," said group CEO Tony Fernandes.
Members will earn and redeem AirAsia BIG loyalty points every time they shop on the platform which can be used for other AirAsia services such as flight bookings.
It will promote selected products and services to shoppers which will not only boost business for partner retailers but also drive more customers to their physical stores.
"Plaza Bali Duty & Tax Free recognises the opportunity OURSHOP offers in the e-commerce landscape and we want to be a part of this game changer," said July Fadriani, head of business improvement & development at Plaza Bali Duty & Tax Free.
AirAsia says OURSHOP will be a standalone platform that will be made available for other airlines in the future.
