Airtours re-launched as dynamic-package brand
Thomas Cook’s Airtours brand has been relaunched solely for short and long-haul dynamically-packaged holidays.
It will only sell hotels from its strategic bed bank partners, while Thomas Cook’s own-brand hotels and other partner hotels, previously sold in Airtours charter packages, will move to Cook’s holiday charter programme from winter 2019.
The changes come into effect immediately for Thomas Cook agents but at a later date for independents.
In a statement, Thomas Cook said the Airtours dynamic package brand will allow agents to choose what their customers would like to include by selecting from a ‘wide range of optional extras, including luggage, transfers and room types that are not included in Thomas Cook charter packages’.
It said more than 18,000 ‘health and safety approved’ sun and beach hotels will be available and UK departure airports will increase from 16 to 26.
"This move is all about making it easier for agents and simplifies what we offer under Thomas Cook and Airtours," said Will Waggott, chief of tour operating at Thomas Cook who began his career with Airtours.
"Our new Airtours holidays will complement our charter holidays and allow agents greater flexibility to build customised packages for those customers who do not want a pre-defined charter holiday."
Waggott, formerly chief finance officer with TUI for 10 years and then chief executive of Travelopia, joined Thomas Cook in March.
