American Queen Voyages ceases trading
River cruise line American Queen Voyages has abruptly ceased all operations.
“All future cruises have been canceled,” a website message says
“American Queen voyages has made the difficult decision to shut. Customers should expect to be fully refunded for canceled cruises.”
The company blames ‘unforeseen business circumstances and an inability to obtain sufficient capital at a commercially reasonable rate to continue.’
Just a few days ago, the cruise line said it would resume Mississippi cruises next month after postponing its season restart this month.
That delay was down to winter maintenance issues.
In recent weeks some major travel agencies had stopped selling American Queen Voyages cruises due to service issues.
The cruise line had acknowledged these issues in a statement.
“We apologize for the issues. American Queen Voyages deeply values our travel agent partners and are taking all matters very seriously.”
“We are working to address the situation as quickly as possible.”
American Queen operated river cruises on the Mississippi, Ohio River valley and in the Pacific Northwest.
The company set up a web domain – www.aqvrefunds.com to facilitate customer refunds.

And how will we be paid commissions owed us from 2023. Please advice. A very good cruise line, very sad to see it closed, I was waiting to book more, but wanted my commission from Sept, sailing first. My son, Greg Ludlum was an engineer for 6 years with the original Hornblower yacht in San Francisco and he knew how good the owners were. Guess expanded too much. Very sad.
