American Queen Voyages now up for sale
Shuttered river cruise brand American Queen Voyages is now officially up for sale.
It comes as AQV parent company Hornblower Group gets a new majority owner.
Investment firm Strategic Value Partners is set to acquire a majority stake in Hornblower.
The river cruise line, which closed down this week, will be sold.
It no sale is forthcoming, it will be wound down.
Hornblower says AQV has struggled since the pandemic,
“Despite great efforts by our team, crew and partners, AQV has been unable to fully rebound from the effects of the pandemic,’ Hornblower Group President Adam Peakes said.
The closure of American Queen Voyages won’t affect any other brands in the Hornblower Group, which include its City Cruises businesses in New York City, San Francisco and Niagara Falls.
Hornblower Group will now go through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings to restructure the business as part of the Strategic Value Partners deal.
