Anite/FSS merger under scrutiny

Sunday, 04 Feb, 2002 0

The Office of Fair Trading has confirmed it is looking into Anite’s purchase of rival FSS.

Interested parties have to make any comments by this Thursday (February 7). An OFT spokesman said: “It is quite a standard procedure. We ask for comments and then pass on our advice to the DTI.”

Anite marketing director Caroline Geraerts told TravelMole: “The deal is done and dusted. It is quite a normal situation when there is a merger to be contacted by the OFT. We believe we meet all the criteria as far as they are concerned.”

Anite bought FSS in December. The merger has made it the UK leader for tour operator reservations and business management systems. The merged company, called Anite Travel Systems, has over 300 travel clients worldwide including First Choice, Virgin Holidays, P&O Ferries and Airtours.
