London-based technology provider, TravelFusion is making a bid for UK agency business following a deal to access Scandinavian flight content. The technology provider offers an XML data feed into the systems of travel suppliers to get real time access to product. Called TripPlannerXML, the technology currently accesses flights but TravelFusion says it will soon expand to hotels, car hire and other travel products, and eventually will enable dynamic packaging. In a move reflective of certain rivals, the product claims to offer a one-stop shop for agents from which to access travel content. TravelFusion chief executive, Moshe Rafiah said: “This is the next step in the evolution of online travel search and distribution. It provides a complete solution to the travel industry.” Access to product is limited to flight content from 14 Scandinavian airlines following a deal with airline technology providers Nextres, and other airline deals including JetBlue and Germania Express. The company claims to already be working with distributors including Lastminute and a UK GDS. A spokeswoman for the company told TravelMole that deals with more suppliers and agents would be announced soon. She did not rule out the possibility of launching a direct to consumer channel in the future, which would compete with existing online agents such as Lastminute and Opodo. Report by Ginny McGrath
