Another severe turbulence incident injures dozens

Another flight with severe turbulence has injured dozens of passengers in South America.
An Air Europa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flying from Madrid to Montevideo, Uruguay had to make an emergency landing in Brazil.
Thirty people were reported injured.
Flight UX045 was diverted to Natal in northern Brazil the airline posted on X.
The turbulent flight incident happened as the plane was just off the Brazil coast.
Natal Airport officials said at least 10 of the injured were transported to hospital for treatment.
The flight was carrying 325 passengers.
The plane landed without incident and was met by several ambulances.
Injuries included cranial fractures and cuts.
Although severe turbulence is still rare, studies suggest is is becoming more frequent with climate change the likely cause.
