APH reveals rising costs of ‘Kiss-and-Fly’ airport drop-off fees
The cost of dropping off or picking up loved ones at the airport is getting ever more costly.
Most airports charge drivers for the ‘Kiss and Fly’ curbside service.
Airport Parking and Hotels (APH.com) has been tracking the costs of airport drop-off fees across the country.
It revealed the range of charges at the 20 top UK airports.
Of the 20 airports, London Stansted was one of the most expensive, charging £7 for 15 minutes.
Bristol, Leeds and London Gatwick were close behind charging drivers £6 but with only a 10-minute window.
APH says Norwich International and Southampton Airports have the cheapest charge of £5 for a more generous 30 minutes.
It found only two allow drivers to drop off air travellers outside the terminal for free – Cardiff International Airport and Birmingham International Airport.
However, these airports only give drivers 5 minutes or 10 minutes respectively in the drop-off area.
To avoid a hefty penalty charge of up to £100, drivers are also advised to check the airport’s payment options.
London Gatwick and London Heathrow only accept payment online, over the phone or by setting up an AutoPay account.
Most other airports accept cash or card payments.
Nick Caunter, MD of APH.com said, “We advise travellers to do their research before asking friends or family as other options such as pre-booking airport parking can not only be cheaper, but also a more environmentally friendly way.”
APH has now published the airport ‘kiss and fly’ rankings of airport forecourt costs for 2024 online.
