The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld four complaints about advertisements for Virgin Atlantic’s premium economy seats.
The advertising watchdog said the adverts might have misled people into believing that all of the airline’s premium economy cabins had been fitted with new seats.
In its defence, Virgin said a footnote made it clear the seats were only available on 58% of its London Heathrow flights, and that airlines often advertise new products even if they were not yet available on all aircraft.
But the ASA said this ‘small text’ was likely to have been overlooked.
Virgin added that its new premium economy seats were now available on 86% of its flights from Heathrow and 67% across its entire fleet.
