Asiana to double capacity to Melbourne
Korean carrier Asiana it set to double its seasonal Seoul flights to Melbourne Airport later this year.
The new service began in December and ends this month.
The twice weekly seasonal services will double its frequency to four flights a week when it resumes from July 2 through until September 2.
Seoul flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays on Airbus A350 aircraft.
“Seoul was Melbourne’s largest unserved market, so it was no surprise to us when in January we saw an average load factor of 96% on all Asiana flights,” Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos said.
“We know there’s huge demand for this service with more than 4500 passengers flying between the two cities across December and January.
He says an average daily international flight is worth more than $154 million a year to the Victorian economy.
Melbourne recently became the first major Australian airport to exceed pre pandemic international capacity.
