ATE heads for Perth in ’08
Aboriginal tourism experiences will be a key focus of next year’s Australian Tourism Exchange.
ATE 2008 will run on June 14-20 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Around 1,700 Australian delegates from 630 companies are expected to meet with up to 600 overseas buyers from 40 countries.
Contemporary and traditional Aboriginal tourism experiences will be showcased to demonstrate the diversity and accessibility of experiences available to the global distribution network.
The event is divided into two modules. The Eastern module runs from June 14–16 and is attended by buyers from Japan, Asia and the Gulf Countries. The Western module, which includes buyers from Europe, the Americas, Africa, New Zealand and the South Pacific, will run on June 17-20.
Tourism Australia General Manager, Europe Rodney Harrex sad: “This is the second time in the event’s history that Western Australia has hosted this important tourism event.
“Holding ATE 2008 in Perth highlights Tourism Australia’s commitment to increasing dispersal and deriving wider economic benefits for the Australian community by encouraging more travellers to move beyond the traditional gateways.
“The event will also provide Perth and Western Australia with an opportunity to showcase the state to international travel trade, further enhancing their understanding of the destination and their product knowledge.”
Buyer applications for ATE open on January 10.
