BAA wins High Court ruling against protest

Tuesday, 7 August 20073 min read

Airports operator BAA has won a High Court ruling to stop certain individuals joining a week-long climate change protest at Heathrow.

But organisers of the Camp for Climate Action, due to take place on August 14 to 21, say the ban does not stretch as far as BAA had originally wanted.

The High Court ruling bans four individuals – Joss Garman, Leo Murray, John Stewart and Geraldine Nicholson – representing three small watchdog groups.

But it will not apply to AirportWatch, a group covering five million people including members of the RSPB and National Trust.

BAA said the injunction had been sought to protect the security of staff and passengers.

Thousand of people are expected to take part in the protest.
