BALPA sees ‘green shoots’ for pilot recruitment
The British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) will highlight its revised message to pilots at a recruitment event this week.
BALPA is attending the Flight Crew Futures event on 10 October and will recognise the post Covid pilot job rebound in the market.
The event is aimed at current pilots and BALPA says it is seeing evidence of external recruitment, largely for experienced pilots.
Many airlines are opting to rehire the pilots they previously made redundant.
At the event BALPA will deliver its assessment of the current market to help pilots access bespoke careers advice and resources available.
The Flight Crew Futures event aims to connect pilots with airlines and recruiting agencies who are specifically looking for type rated flight crew.
There will be presentations throughout the day, and the ‘drop-in’ format will also include presentations from recruiters.
Each will deliver an overview of their current flight crew requirements, salary packages and employment terms.
These include BA, TUI and easyJet.
BALPA Head of Career Services Wendy Pursey said: “We are seeing some positivity in the market for the first time since Covid-19.
“It is early days and the competition is tough, but BALPA has a range of bespoke advice and resources.”
