Best of Britain to be showcased in San Francisco
VisitBritain is heading for the US West Coast in a bid to lure more Americans to the UK.
VisitBritain’s Destination Britain North America UK tourism trade event is being held in San Francisco from 7-10 September.
VisitBritain Chairman Nick de Bois CBE and 70 industry suppliers will attend an expected 2,500 one-to-one business appointments with North American travel buyers and media.
British suppliers include hotels, visitor attractions, DMCs, tour and attractions and local destinations across the UK.
Nick de Bois said: “VisitBritain’s flagship trade event has been a catalyst for new business for more than a decade and I am delighted to be leading this year’s mission.”
“North America is driving UK tourism’s recovery and this is a timely opportunity for British travel suppliers. “
“Our focus is on broadening travel itineraries, encouraging visitors from North America to explore further through our regional gateways.”
Delegates and media will hear about international travel market trends.
There will be seminars from London and Partners, VisitEngland, VisitScotland and Visit Wales to boost knowledge of Britain as a visitor destination.
Visitors from the US spent a record £6 billion in the UK in 2022, up 42% on 2019.
It is the UK’s most valuable inbound source market.
Canadian visitors also set a record for spending in the UK, with £934 million in 2022.
Flight bookings from North America are currently up 15% compared to 2019.
The multi-million pound GREAT Britain marketing campaign in Canada and the US launched earlier this year.
It is also investing in separate campaigns in the USA with British Airways .
Destination Britain North America has been running since 2008 as a leading event in VisitBritain’s international trade show calendar.
