Thomson is to begin offering kids-free cruises on new ship
Calypso will offer regular Black Sea itineraries

Thomson is launching adults-only cruises in 2007, focusing on lesser-known itineraries.

The kids-free cruises will be on the Calypso, the company’s fifth addition to its fleet, which carries 486 passengers.

With the first sailing on March 31, the Calypso will be the first ship to offer cruises in the Black Sea on a regular itinerary basis.

“Its size will enable her to venture off the beaten track and cruise to lesser-known gems like the Corinth Canal,” said a spokeswoman.

The ship will have four lounges and bars, including the show lounge, two restaurants, casino, library and card room with an internet café, shopping arcade and boutique, hair and beauty salon, fitness centre with sauna, gym and massage.

In contrast to the typical West End-type shows on cruises, entertainment on Calypso will focus on repertory theatre and drama, guest lecturers, lifestyle classes, live classical concerts on deck, and murder mystery plays.

Cruise and stay options are available with an extra week in Halkidiki. Flights are available from seven UK airports.

Prices start from £649 for the seven-night Pharaoh’s and The Promised Land cruise departing October 24 from Cyprus, or £699 for the Ionian Treasures cruise from Thessalonika. Flights, transfers and tips included.
