Bhutan reopens, unveils new marketing campaign
As it reopened to international tourism the Kingdom of Bhutan outlined a new tourism strategy.
HE Kinzang Dorji, Ambassador of Bhutan in Thailand addressed a special trade event held in Bangkok, showcasing enhancements to its sustainable development policies.
“Bhutan’s noble policy of high-value, low-volume tourism has existed since we started welcoming guests to our country in 1974. But its intent and spirit were watered down over the years without us even realising it,” he said, quoting. the Prime Minister of Bhutan’s message on reopening.
“As we reset as a nation and officially open our doors to visitors, we are reminding ourselves about the essence of the policy”
The reopening comes with improvements in three key areas: sustainable development policy, infrastructure upgrades, and the guest experience.

Bhutan previously announced an increase of the Sustainable Development Fee to USD$200 per person, per night.
This will support development projects within the country.
