Bill introduced to prevent another FAA outage
Legislation was introduced in the U.S. Senate designed to prevent another nationwide FAA outage.
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran announced the NOTAM Improvement Act
“It is a warning of the need to strengthen and modernize our air travel system. This legislation will help meet the demands of 21st-century travel,” Moran said.
The bipartisan legislation would study ways to improve aviation safety and avoid another FAA outage.
“It is imperative that a group of aviation experts is assembled to look at ways to improve this vital safety system,” said Shelley Moore Capito.
The outage led to over 11,000 flight delays across the country.
It caused the first national ground stop since 9/11.
Moran said a task force would consist of representatives from airlines, including pilots, airports, air traffic control, FAA officials and IT security experts.
