Boeing delivers first plane to China since 2019
Boeing has finally delivered its first plane to China in over four years.
The 787 Dreamliner aircraft was delivered to Juneyao Airlines in Shanghai.
Although there was a relatively busy order book, Boeing‘s delivery schedule in China suffered immensely due to China’s grounding the 737 Max, which was longer than almost every other country.
It was also severely impacted by the Covid pandemic slowdown.
China was one of the first to ground the 737 Max, and one of the last to resume flights.
There are about 85 Boeing 737 Max already built that are awaiting deliveries to China airline customers.
“We continue to support our customers in China and will be ready to deliver for our customers when that time comes,” a Boeing spokesperson said.
China recently launched its homegrown C919 aircraft as a competitor to Boeing and Airbus.
