Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending Brighton Pride 2024.
Riding on the New Orleans float, the celebration was a vibrant display of LGBTQ+ joy, filled with flags, music, and, most importantly, a strong sense of community.
It was particularly heartwarming to be on the NOLA bus, proudly displaying the slogan “Y’all Means All,” as a city where the blend of food, music, colour, and inclusivity is palpable.
Throughout the three-hour journey from the seafront to Northern Brighton, we encountered nothing but smiles and applause, with no signs of prejudice or abuse.
The parade featured a diverse mix of charities, companies, community groups, and a few well-known travel brands like Virgin/Delta and Visit New Orleans.
Unlike last year’s wet and stormy weather, the 51st Brighton Pride enjoyed bright, sunny skies, attracting over 300,000 attendees.
In the evening, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Girls Aloud performed to enthusiastic crowds at Preston Park, which was renamed Fabulosa for the weekend.
The entire city basked in the relaxed, friendly, and all-inclusive atmosphere that defines Brighton Pride.
