Brit arrested for violent assault on crew member
A British man has been arrested for assaulting a Thai Airways flight attendant.
The unruly passenger was recorded on video swinging out at the flight attendant and knocking him to the floor.
The passenger’s meltdown started a short time earlier.
He is accused of destroying the cabin bathroom door which was pulled off its hinges.
A fellow passenger who filmed the incident said: “He was in the toilet and he started screaming and shouting. He started smashing the door and it came away from the hinges.”
“An older guy tried to get him out. A fight broke out and he ended up smacking the flight attendant. I think he broke his nose.”
The man, a London resident, was arrested by police after touching down in London.
Met Police said: ‘We met the aircraft on arrival and a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and endangering an aircraft.”
“He remains in custody. Another man was taken to hospital. His condition was assessed as not life-threatening.”
The incident happened hours before it landed, and the plane was reportedly close to diverting to Dubai.
