British Airways has begun rolling out a redesigned mobile app aimed at making every stage of the travel journey faster, simpler, and more intuitive.
The new app is the first phase of a wider digital transformation and follows months of testing with a large beta community whose feedback helped shape the platform. Additional updates and new features are already planned for the coming months.
Designed as a real-time travel companion, the app combines booking, check-in, boarding passes, and trip management into a single streamlined experience.
Among the biggest improvements is a new travel day home screen that automatically displays the most relevant information as passengers move through their journey. Digital boarding passes remain available in the app and can also be stored in Apple and Android mobile wallets for offline access.
The app is powered by real-time operational data, providing live travel updates for customers departing from London Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Travelers also receive push notifications, reminders, and alerts before and during their trip across the British Airways network.
Passengers can now manage more of their journey independently. Expanded self-service options allow customers to modify bookings directly within the app, while passport scanning helps reduce document checks at the airport. Secure biometric profile management has also been added.
For customers traveling through Heathrow Terminal 5, the app includes airport-specific features such as interactive terminal maps and real-time lounge occupancy information.
Added convenience for British Airways Club members
“The new platform provides a strong foundation, enabling us to introduce new functionality more quickly, shaped by customer feedback,” said Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer.
“The initial rollout is just the beginning. From greater personalization to expanded self-service and new innovations, we will continue to evolve the app over the coming weeks and months to deliver a more seamless end-to-end digital experience.“
The redesigned app also adds new functionality for British Airways Club members. Users can monitor their Avios balance, Tier Points, and status progress, view account statements, update personal information, access available vouchers, store passport details for future trips, and manage saved travel companions.
British Airways says future updates will introduce the ability to redeem Reward Flights and vouchers directly within the app, along with greater personalization, additional self-service features, and real-time baggage tracking.
The launch builds on the airline’s ongoing improvements to ba.com, where core functions such as searching, booking, and changing reservations have become significantly faster. British Airways says customer satisfaction has increased across both the website and the new app.
Alongside digital upgrades, British Airways continues investing in customer experience through initiatives including free Starlink Wi-Fi, redesigned lounges in Miami and Dubai, and AI-powered technologies to improve operational performance and on-time reliability.
