BTA announces partnership with carbon offsetting scheme Trees4Travel

The Business Travel Association (BTA) is to make it easier for its members to off-set companies’carbon emissions through a new partnership with Trees4Travel.

Using the Trees4Travel platform, a travel manager will be able to set a company’s CO2 allowance and closely monitor, audit and record its travel carbon levels.

When a company exceeds its allowance, they’ll be able to balance them with tree planting projects.

BTA says the new partnership aims to raise awareness of sustainable business travel and will be an integral part of the its ‘Planet Plan’ initiative.

The two organisations say they will work together to reduce global carbon emissions and build strong awareness of climate change. Trees4Travel are the first partner to join in the BTA’s new Travel Start Up category.

The two organisations will hold a number of joint events, the first of which will be the BTA’s ‘Planet Plan’ meeting on 28 January, at which a Trees4Travel representative will outline how BTA members can engage with it.

BTA CEO Clive Wratten said: "As we move towards getting business travel moving once more, it is crucial that our industry works diligently to reduce the impact it has on the world around us. We are delighted to be partnering with Trees4Travel and developing greater understanding and action as we enter the new era of mindful travel."

Nico Nicholas, CEO and Co-founder of global group Trees4Travel, said: "Our partnership will ensure more forests are maintained, thereby reducing CO2 levels in the air. This simple yet powerful act will help reverse the devastating effects of climate change, creating a safe and sustainable future for our planet."
