Business travel becoming more stressful – SAS study

A study of business passengers by SAS has found 83% believe travelling is more stressful than a year ago because of heightened security the present day climate.

It found more than 80% of respondents said their journeys would be made less stressful by improved fast-track security measures.

Over 18 months, SAS polled the views of with more than 2,500 Euro Bonus members.

It found they are time conscious and impatient and feel guilty about spending time away from the home and office.

Travelling executives are also under pressure to ensure 24/7 availability, are technologically aware and security conscious.

According to SAS, 65% of respondents reported support for onboard telephony with just over half (37%) of the group claiming that they would definitely make use of their mobile phones during flights for texting or calling.

But 92% of respondents claimed that they would expect airlines to introduce and enforce etiquette for onboard mobile use.

Many said they enjoy being ‘un-contactable’ whilst onboard and value the opportunity to work without interruptions.

Brand loyalty among business travellers ranked low on the list of priorities when choosing a carrier; whereas choice of airport was the primary motivator, with three out of every four respondents ranking airport choice as more important than carrier selection.
