Massachusetts-based Cape Air plans to go electric with a big order for 75 all-electric Alice commuter aircraft.
It signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the purchase with electric commuter plane maker Eviation Aircraft.
Eviation’s all-electric Alice aircraft can hold nine passengers and two crew.
It can fly 440 nautical miles on a single charge with a cruising speed of 250 knots.
“Truly sustainable aviation not only reduces the impact of air travel on the environment but also makes business sense,” said Jessica Pruss, Vice President of Sales at Eviation.
“We are proud to support Cape Air, a recognized leader in regional air travel, to chart a new path.”
Cape Air flies routes in the Northeast, Midwest, and Montana.
It also has a significant presence in the Caribbean.
“Our customers will be at the forefront of aviation history and our communities will benefit from emission-free travel,” aid Cape Air President and CEO Linda Markham.
