Christmas theme offers eye-popping decorations
Developers of Queenstown’s newest hotel, hospitality and retail centre, The Sofitel, today unzipped an eye-popping Christmas theme in the men’s loos.
Bringing new meaning to the ‘loo with a view’ theme, the second floor men’s toilet set tongues wagging in the New Zealand resort town in September when a six-metre long backdrop to the six stands was unveiled. The backdrop featured life-size photographs of local models in varying poses directly behind the stands – each with a full view of the action.
The special Christmas backdrop features brand new life-size photographs featuring the same models in suitably seasonal dress. Once again, the models are depicted in varying poses directly behind each of the six stands.
“We wanted to do something a bit different in the men’s room when we opened in September and hit on this idea,” said the Perron’s marketing manager Peter Dallimore. “The reaction to the original images led to an astounding level of media interest across the world. The result is we now have world famous toilets that patrons really enjoy. It was always planned to change the images periodically and we thought men would enjoy a Christmas theme for the holiday season.”
The toilet is mostly used by patrons of two restaurants on the second floor, Bezu and Fatz Cat.
Queenstown photographer Sheena Haywood shot the images of models from local agency Ican.
“We had a lot of fun with the shoot, it was great to get the girls back together and do it all again with a Christmas theme,” said Sheena.
Queenstown Signs made up the huge posters which are protected (naturally enough) by a backlit glass wall.
Peter Dallimore isn’t saying what the next theme will be, but promises his creative team isn’t short of fun and amusing ideas for gracing the loo wall.
