Commission break-through for Thomas Cook staff
Thomas Cook has launched a new tracking scheme which will see its high street agents paid commission even if their customers opt to book online.
‘DreamCapture’ allows holidaymakers to create a wishlist in store, with information, images and link-throughs to the web pages on thomascook.com, so they can discuss the options with friends and family.
Once Thomas Cook has their email, the booking can be tracked to see whether the customer decides to book online, via the call centre or by going back to the shop.
John Straw, chairman of Thomas Cook’s Digital Advisory Board, said the innovation has made a staggering difference to its business.
"It’s made our in-store agents very happy, too, because they are now getting commission even if the customer books later online," he added.
The scheme has been trialled in Thomas Cook stores in Cramlington and Dundee and will be rolled out across all stores by December 2013.
