Corporate Social Responsibility – what does it mean for your business? The Travel Foundation and First Choice join the debate
The Travel Foundation director Sue Hurdle and First Choice head of CSR Jane Ashton are the latest speakers to sign up for TravelMole’s next Travel Industry Question Time tackling the issue of CSR in the travel industry.
They will join a panel of top speakers including Paul Tilstone from the Institute of Travel Management to debate the issue on April 19 at the Tower Hilton in London from 16.30.
Working with Action for Conservation through Tourism, Hurdle developed a programme to persuade leading travel companies that Corporate Social Responsibility really is good for business.
This initiative has developed into The Travel Foundation – the world’s first industry partnership to help companies put sustainable tourism into practice.
Ashton’s team have been driving all the CSR activity at First Choice over the last few years.
The kind of issues to be tackled at this month’s Travel Industry Question Time include:
*Is CSR vital for your future long-term success, or simply a passing phase?
*Is it just about marketing (ie being seen to do your bit) or something that will become an essential part of corporate life?
*Apart from helping to protect the environment, what else should your company be doing to demonstrate CSR?
*How do you cost the impact of your Carbon Footprint? Should it be mandated
policy from government ?
*What is the real value of carbon offsetting?
*Do taxes work as an effective deterrent to reduce travel and CO2 emissions?
*Is your CSR auditable?
