Crew member goes overboard during emergency drill
A cruise ship emergency drill turned very real on a Carnival ship in the Caribbean.
While docked in the US Virgin Islands, a crew member fell overboard during a crew emergency drill exercise.
It happened on the Carnival Venezia while the ship was in port.
The crew member who fell wasn’t part of the drill but was doing some maintenance work at the time.
A rescue boat was deployed and he was helped out of the water without any injuries.
The incident was captured on video and posted on a private Facebook group for cruise fans.
The owner of the footage said the rescue operation was completed ‘flawlessly.’
The worker was wearing a life vest which automatically inflates on contact with water.
The Carnival Venezia is currently on a 11-night Caribbean cruise out of New York.
