Delta sues Florida for overpaid taxes
Delta Air Lines is taking the state of Florida to court alleging the airline is being denied a refund for more than $1.7 million in overpaid taxes.
The issue dates back more than a decade.
Delta filed the lawsuit in state capital Tallahassee claiming it conducted four separate audits which prove it overpaid the Florida Department of Revenue.
Its request for a refund has been denied multiple times.
Delta says the problem arose by the way the state views it as a sales tax and not a ‘use tax.”
It relates in part to tax exempt items such as prepackaged food.
The airline is seeking the full refund and interest.
