Disney Cruise Line adding new ship for Japan market
Disney Cruise Line has announced plans for a ninth ship to its fleet.
The yet-to-be-named ship will be homeported in Tokyo with the inaugural voyage expected in fiscal year 2028.
It is a venture between the cruise line an Oriental Land Company, which manages Disney’s Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea theme parks.
The two companies inked a 10-year partnership which is valued at about $60 billion to jointly expand Disney’s theme parks and cruise business.
The new ship concept will be modeled after the Disney Wish, which can host 4,000 guests.
The new vessel will be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, starting next year.
The ship will offer short cruises along with theme park packages.
Disney said more specific details about the inaugural sailing, itineraries, and ship amenities and experiences will be shared at a later date.
