Disney unveils name of upcoming ship

Disney has revealed the name of its next cruise ship and teased details of its upcoming new private island destination.
The line’s fifth ship will be named the Disney Wish which sets sail in early 2022.
It will have a distinctive fairytale theme with Rapunzel on the stern of the ship.
Disney’s Bob Capek, speaking at the weekend, said: "There couldn’t be a better name for our incredible new ship because making wishes come true is part of the Disney DNA.
"Each Disney Cruise Line ship is unique, with a name that embodies the excitement of sailing with Disney."
It will become the largest vessel yet with 1,250 guest staterooms, and the least polluting, powered by liquefied natural gas.
Concept art shows a three-story atrium as the centrepiece which has all the hallmarks of a typical Disney flick.
It is an ‘elegant space inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale,’ Disney says.
No news was shared about Disney’s two other new ships.
However there were a number of big reveals at D23, including a few more details about Disney Cruise Line’s new Bahamas private destination resort.
Based on Eleuthera, it is called Lighthouse Point and will showcase nature and Bahamian culture.
The company will be working with ‘artists of every kind, to create a unique destination that is rooted in Bahamian culture’, said Disney imagineer Joe Rohde.
Construction won’t begin until next year when all the environmental impact studies have been completed.
