Dubai fully committed to UK trade
Ahead of the summer season, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism recently hosted trade road show events to highlight what it has to offer for the season.
With over 23 stakeholders from Dubai and more than 100 attendees from the trade across both locations in London and Manchester the event was a success.
Amongst some of the attendees were Fairmont Dubai, Raffles the Palm and Grand Hyatt Dubai as well as the newly opened Museum of the Future, all of which are key players in attracting visitors to the destination and promoting it as a summer getaway.
In 2021, Dubai saw 7.28 million overnight visitors travelling to the destination with the UK providing 420,000 of those visitors.
Moving into 2022, figures show a total of 979,000 total visitors to Dubai in the month of January, of which 58,000 were from the UK.
Richard Jewsbury, Divisional Vice President at Emirates UK said: “We have witnessed a considerable uptick in demand for international travel since the start of the year, and ahead of the summer holidays when appetite for travel is at its strongest.”
“We look forward to welcoming customers onboard as well as families and tourists back to Dubai.”
Dubai reopened its border to international tourism in July 2020.
The ‘Always On’ marketing approach which highlights Dubai as a year-round destination has been proactively used by the trade sector when approaching key Dubai sellers.
Issam Kazim, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Tourism, said of the road show: “The UK remains one of our most important source markets, and it is a priority to strengthen our relationships with key travel stakeholders as we continue to work together to drive in-market conversations and increase UK visitor numbers to Dubai.”
There will be continuous trainings throughout the year for key partners to expand their knowledge of the destination as well as upcoming FAM trips.
