easyCruise makes European river trip debut
Budget cruiseline easyCruise is launching weekly itineraries along the rivers and canals of Holland and Belgium from €10 per person per night in July.
A new 80-metre long riverboat, called easyCruiseTwo, will sail from Amsterdam to Rotterdam, Brussels, Antwerp and back. Bookings can be made from mid-May and sailings start on July 14.
In response to client feedback about its first vessel, easyCruiseOne, this latest one will have a new look and upgraded facilities.
All 50 twin cabins on easyCruiseTwo are on the outside and have a window, with en-suite bathroom with shower. A canopied sun deck has an outdoor hot tub, bar and restaurant.
Formerly the ‘M.S. Frontera’, the riverboat is owned and operated by Boonstra River Line and will be operated by easyCruise under a franchise agreement.
It will be painted with the new easyCruise livery, where the orange hull, (with the easyCruise website address in large letters), is to be replaced with a more refined graphite grey hull with orange beading and a more ‘dynamic’ logo.
To bring it in line, easyCruiseOne will be given the new livery and more outside cabins when it goes into dry dock in October 2006.
This vessel is currently finishing its winter season in the Caribbean before returning to the Mediterranean to cruise the French and Italian rivieras from May 13.
To suit their young target market, both cruises arrive in a new destination by lunchtime each day so that passengers have the freedom to spend most of the day and night ashore. Passengers can join and leave the cruise where and when they wish, subject to a minimum two night stay.
easyCruise is also in the process of re-designing its onboard bars and restaurants after noticing that more passengers than expected preferred to eat and drink on board.
It has employed a US consultancy, CB5 Restaurant Group, to create a more upscale dining experience for both vessels.
