EasyJet in push to increase business bookings

Wednesday, 08 Jan, 2002 0

EasyJet is planning to target corporate firms with a national advertising campaign in a bid to boost its sales from the business sector.

A spokeswoman told TravelMole that the theme of the campaign, which could break in the business press as early as tomorrow, will be that corporates are not putting enough pressure on their travel management companies to look at the most cost effective travel options.

The campaign will say that while 90% of the top 1,000 companies use travel agents, only 10% are giving their agents an incentive to make bigger savings for them.

The spokeswoman said: “Companies are making redundancies so the question we will be asking is are they using their travel budget effectively?”

She added that half of easyJet’s sales were currently coming from the business sector, which she said was due in part to the fact easyJet flies predominantly into key locations such as Zurich, Geneva and Amsterdam rather than secondary airports .

The spokeswoman declined to say how much was being spent on the campaign or in which newspapers the ads would appear.
