Elvis’ Jungle Room comes to LA
Elvis Presley’s iconic Jungle Room is coming to Los Angeles this spring, after successful stints in New York, Boston and Chicago.
This April, Memphis Tourism and Elvis Presley’s Graceland are bringing a flavor of Elvis to LA as part of the first-of-its kind, experiential pop-up tour, “Love Me (Bar)Tender.”
It will take over a popular Los Angeles bar with a replica of the most iconic room in the King’s Memphis mansion.
The pop-up bar will have a limited two-night run from Apr. 4-5 at Truly L.A., in the Downtown L.A. Arts District.
The pop-up features a replica of Elvis’ famed den with recreations of the tiki bar, faux-fur furniture and wood paneling found in the original Jungle Room at Graceland.
Entrance is free with registration. To sign up for a time slot visit MemphisTravel.com/LoveMeBartender.
“After seeing the love everyone showed the city of Memphis and the ‘Love Me (Bar)Tender’ pop-up last year, we are thrilled to bring this to the City of Angels,” said Regena Bearden, Chief Marketing Officer at Memphis Tourism.
“The Jungle Room pop-up features something for everyone, whether you are a lover of Elvis, music or Instagrammable moments.”
“We invite Angelenos to visit this pop-up, and then book a trip to Memphis to experience the real thing.”
Thousands visited the “Love Me (Bar)Tender” pop-up in October 2023.
The experience kicked off in New York City followed by stops in Boston and Chicago.
Visitors to the Jungle Room pop-up can expect an immersive experience with retro vibes, social media ready spaces and a themed food and Trulixir menu curated by Truly L.A.
The pop-up bar will also feature music from Memphis artists.
The Jungle Room first made its debut in 1965 at Graceland, serving as a reminder of Elvis’ time in Hawaii, although Elvis and the Presleys simply knew and utilized the room as a den.
Design highlights of the Jungle Room includes a green shag carpet covering the floor and ceiling, a rock waterfall, a lacquered tiki bar and matching furniture.
The green shag carpet lent itself to the room’s excellent acoustics, as evidenced in what became known as The Jungle Room sessions.
Elvis Presley had many ties to the Los Angeles area, including owning several homes, filming TV specials and movies on the studio lots, and recording some of his biggest hits at Radio Recorders in West Hollywood.
“The Jungle Room activation is just one way for us to give visitors a taste of one of the most iconic attractions in Memphis and to drive visitation to Graceland.”
“We are thankful for the opportunities to collaborate with our partners at Memphis Tourism to attract new travelers to our destination,” said Jen Swearingen, Senior Director of Marketing for Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. and Graceland.
